Jam Shed (Malbec)

Jam Shed Malbec is made with grapes sourced from selected vineyards in the hills of Argentina’s famous Mendoza wine region. This Malbec has rich, opulent plum and blackberry flavours, rounded off with a hint of cocoa and vanilla. It’s a seriously delicious red wine that’s jam packed with flavour!. Wine of Mendoza, Argentina. Rich, jammy & smooth.

Red Red Wine.

So this happens to be one of my favourite wines at the moment, warm and full of flavour. At ยฃ7 a bottle itโ€™s the most expensive on the shelf, however it a completely drinkable wine.

For me it has a thick warm texture and as the name suggests has a jam feel to it.

If your after a low price tasty wine then I would say go for it.

Driving Long Distances – Some Advice.

So we have just returned from France driving from Lancaster, England, down to Dover. From Calais we drove across to Brittany. Ten days driving around then back the way we came.

1604 miles later.

All very pleasant and a fantastic family holiday was had.

However, a day later on returning home I woke up with excruciatingly pain in my right upper arm.

I mean I could hardly lift my arm and when I did it screamed in agony.

Thinking I had slept on it funny I thought it would just settle. Oh no has it hell.

Then it dawned on me. I had spent the majority of the drive with my right arm rested on the window frame of the car door, the position of which was just above horizontal.

So my advice to anyone on a long drive who has a tendency to rest their arm on the door. Bloody well donโ€™t – it sodden well hurts – eventually.

Lesson learned.

First Day Blues

Following nearly three weeks off work on my meanders it was time to head back this morning. Jeez what I wouldnโ€™t give to either rewind to three weeks ago or better still fast forward a year then I wouldnโ€™t have to.

Emails, lots and lots of meaningless emails. I remember back when we didnโ€™t have email. I can honestly say that after three weeks off I wouldnโ€™t have come back to hundreds of little messages left on my desk. So why on earth do have so many bloody emails. Of the hundreds I had to go through only about three had any relevance.

Also, who the bloody hell has pinched my coffee mug!

Aggghhh. Give me strength.

Chez Victor (Cancale) and the Cast of The Little Mermaid !

Chez Victor is a restaurant situated on the beach front of the little town of Cancale, Brittany, France, just on the corner next to the fresh oyster stalls.

We decided after our first visit to Cancale on our trip, that we would head back to the restaurant to have dinner, and wow we were not disappointed. The menu was extensive but as we were in the oyster capital of France we opted for a sea food platter. Advertised for two people it was evident that one between the four of us, plus a coupe of cheeky bowls of muscles, would be more than enough for us all.

We ordered and didnโ€™t have a long wait for our food to arrive. It came out in a boat shaped tray filled with ice and seaweed and included the following: oysters, two different types, welks, langoustines, shrimp, king prawns, cockles and a huge crab.

The cast of Little Mermaid

It also came with a multitude of implements to eat it with, more like a surgeons set of instruments.

So to conclude, if you want to sample some of the best sea food in France and are not afraid to eat the entire cast of the Little Mermaid then head to Cancale and Chez Victor.

The Drinking Dragon

Drinking Dragon

At the bottom of the Isle of Man ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฒ lies a little island called the Calf of Man. No one lives on it and there is no electricity or running water. Historically it was a Manx Shearwater farm followed by a pastures for cows which had to be swam across from the main land through rip tides to the Calf and back again, now it is a bird sanctuary preserved by the Manx Natural Trust.

Off the east coast of the calf is a rocky out crop which from a certain angle takes on the appearance of a dragon with itโ€™s head dipped drinking from the sea.

If you ever get the chance to take one of the boat trips out to the Calf and see some of the amazing sights, including the Drinking Dragon, then it is a must do.
